Information for IT departments
The DScribe service uses the internet and internal client networks. The process described below applies to clients using digital recorders; for those clients dictating by telephone, steps 1 to 3 do not apply.
- Voice files are created using digital recorders and are downloaded in DSS format to the client PC via a USB cable.
- An encryption and upload programme listens for the arrival of a voice file, encrypts it using 3-DES (168-bit encryption) and sends it via FTP to the DScribe secure FTP site.
- The voice files are then available to the transcribers over a secure https connection. The transcribers access the voice files via a browser. The transcribed documents are then returned to the client direct.
- The DScribe software automatically downloads the files and places them in a defined directory on the network drive agreed with the customer. Where a distribution server is installed, the files are placed in a defined directory on the server. They can then be accessed by authorised personnel.
- Documents are plain text (RTF/XML). No binaries are involved.
